Expression of interest to join 2 IRVA working parties

We are calling for Expressions of interest to join 2 IRVA working parties and encouraging representation from each country. There are 2 proposed working groups to be established:

Testing Working Group
Surveillance Working Group

The HTLV Surveillance Working Group will provide expert advice, direction, and input into the development of recommended HTLV surveillance guidelines to the World Health Organization to support countries in developing and implementing robust surveillance systems to monitor HTLV.

The role and purposed of the HTLV Surveillance Working Group is to provide leadership and production of guidance documents on the surveillance of HTLV.

The HTLV Testing Working Party provides a forum for discussion, knowledge sharing and provision of expert knowledge to:  

  • Provide advice and support for establishing robust testing services, including to:
    • improve the accuracy and reliability of testing globally including distinguishing between HTLV-1 and HTLV-2.
    • publish methods for molecular testing to improve access to nPCR and pro-viral load testing.
  • Work towards the standardisation of assays and development of recommended testing guidelines
